My Samuel is off to Kindergarten

We had Samuel's conference today with his preschool teacher, and because I'm a proud Mommy I am going to brag on my boy a bit. Ms. Pam said Sam is doing very well. She said he is also very good at puzzles (which I knew) and that he finishes his work quickly, so that he can work on puzzles. She went out and bought a couple of 60 piece puzzles, because Sam and his friends were breezing through the others. She feels he is ready for Kindergarten. I was wondering about that because he won't be five until July. The speech therapist said he works really hard on his speech, which is all I could ask for, as long as he is working hard. Sam will have his ear tubes replaced and tonsils removed in June at Riley Children's in Indy. The next part of his surgery will take place four months after that. He will have a tongue release, because he is unable to move his tongue to the roof of his mouth. He will also have the part of his palate closed that they were unable to close during his last surgery. This is called a Fistula which according to the website cleftline.org is: An abnormal opening, usually referring to a hole in the palate after repair. I am very proud of Samuel and very thankful to God for bringing him half way across the world to me.

It is actually sunny today!

We have had so much snow in the Chicago area this winter. The last time it snowed Sam opened the front door and said, "Oh no not snow AGAIN." Today it is a balmy 50 and the kids are enjoying playing outside with our neighbors grandkids. Lucy can ride a two wheeler bike now and I watch her ride with such speed and think, "Where did my baby go?"

I Have Discovered Blogging

Thanks to help from David I have discovered the joy of blogging. We had a wonderful Easter together yesterday. It was relaxing and we enjoyed spending time together. When we arrived at church we were greeted with hugs an hellos. This is an answer to prayer because we have been searching for a church that really felt like family. When the service was over everyone was handed bunches of bright yellow daffodils, which happened to be one of my favorite flowers, and they remind me of one of my favorite poems. When we got home from church we hid eggs and had dinner together. when we got up from our Sunday nap David and I played a game of Sorry while the kids played. What a glorious Resurrection Day.

"Daffodils" (1804)
I WANDER'D lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;Beside the lake, beneath the trees,Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the Milky Way,They stretch'd in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:Ten thousand saw I at a glance,Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:I gazed -- and gazed -- but little thoughtWhat wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude; And then my heart with pleasure fills,And dances with the daffodils.
By William Wordsworth (1770-1850).
